The Department of Biomedical Engineering

In 1968, less than one year after the federation of Western Reserve University and Case Institute of Technology, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University was formed. Its establishment combined resources from Western Reserve鈥檚 School of Medicine and Case鈥檚 undergraduate biomedical engineering elective sequence, which was the first such program to receive a training grant from the National Institutes of Health in 1963.
