About the Program

Understanding the law is key to protecting public health. With a dual Master of Public Health (MPH) and Juris Doctor (JD) from Case Western Reserve University, one of the top research universities in the U.S., you鈥檒l be ready to make an impact in the healthcare field.

Offered jointly by the university鈥檚 School of Medicine and School of Law, our program can enhance your career prospects in health, medicine and law鈥攑reparing you to pursue positions as a lawyer specializing in healthcare delivery, insurance, biotechnology, human rights, general counsel in a public or private hospital, and more.

What to Expect

You can complete both your MPH and JD degrees in four years, beginning in the law school. You鈥檒l work with clients as early as your first semester and learn transactional drafting, financial literacy, and statutory and regulatory analysis during the first year.

In addition to requirements for your JD, you鈥檒l complete 27 credit hours of core MPH courses.

Admission Requirements

You must apply separately to鈥攁nd be admitted by鈥攅ach program. Most students begin at the law school and apply for the MPH program in the spring of their first year. 

Each degree program will review applications separately and will make admission decisions separately. Timelines and due dates are different for each program. Please review each program's website for the correct date.

Admissions are rolling, and you may apply early or regular decision. You can choose to start in the spring or fall.

Typical applications include:

  • 鈥嬧赌� (also available for download) for the School of Law
  • Statement of purpose
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • CV or resume
  • GRE, MAT, MCAT, LSAT, DACT or GMAT scores
  • Application fee (for MPH program only)
  • TOEFL scores (for all non-native English language speakers)
