Columbus, OH鈥擩ustin J. Trevino, MD, is assistant chief clinical officer at Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare, a regional psychiatric hospital in Columbus, Ohio, operated by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). He is board certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and integrates treatment for both substance abuse and mental illness (SAMI) as a way to maximize recovery for people struggling with these co-occurring disorders.
Dr. Trevino is known for promoting and supporting the implementation of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT), the evidence-based practice, in Ohio鈥檚 mental health system. Recognized as an early innovator and advocate, he received the "2007 IDDT Champion Award" at the Conference of the Ohio Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Coordinating Center of Excellence, an initiative of the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University.
Prior to his current role at Twin Valley, Dr. Trevino served as director of addiction services for Lindner Center of HOPE in Cincinnati and as medical director at five organizations in and around Dayton, Ohio. A dedicated educator, Dr. Trevino has taught at the schools of medicine of Wright State University and Ohio State University. He has also published numerous articles on psychiatry, addiction treatment, and psychopharmacology and has made numerous presentations on these topics locally, regionally, and nationally.
A Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Trevino was included in Academic Keys 鈥淲ho鈥檚 Who in Medical Sciences Education鈥� in 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1983 from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a Doctor of Medicine in 1987 from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.
