Meet Damaris Punales-Alpizar, CWRU in Madrid Faculty

Damaris Punales-Alpizar is the Case Western Reserve University faculty member who will be living with you in Madrid during the fall semester. We wanted you to get to know her a bit more, so here are some fun and interesting facts she shared:

1. Damaris Punales-Alpizar was born in Cuba, and has also lived in Belize, Mexico, Spain and Russia.
2. She has two daughters, and she lives with one of them (a CWRU student!), her mom, and a crazy dog named Nancy.
3. She loves poetry! This summer she organized the first Transatlantic Poetry Festival in Spain, with poets from many different Spanish-speaking countries.
4. She loves traveling, meeting new people and knowing new places.
5. She can type really fast using all her fingers.

Professor Punales-Alpizar will be teaching a CWRU course that fulfills one of the Unified General Education Requirements for degree completion. This course will be graded, and the grade will count toward the CWRU GPA. She also will serve as an in-person resource to support the students, holding meetings with the students as a group and office hours for individual support.

Professor Punales-Alpizar looks forward to meeting you in Madrid!
