Instructor Emerita, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences
G. Regina Nixon is an instructor emerita. She joined the Mandel School faculty in 1988 and taught research, theory and macro skills courses. She was an active member of the committee on students, curriculum committee and the faculty senate and is the former co-director of the . She has been the director of Project Go since 2000.
Nixon has extensive experience in the design and management of community-based evaluation projects. These projects have ranged from single site to multiple site designs. They have been funded by a variety of sources including federal agencies, local and national foundations, and social service organizations.
Several issues have framed her research agenda, including:
- Neighborhood leadership development
- Building community and institutional capacity
- Strengthening low income families
- Diversity
Why I Chose This Profession
Although my background is in sociology, I desired to be in a practice, educational environment where I could teach, conduct research and share my expertise in the classroom and in the community.
