As a PhD student at Case Western Reserve, Robert L. Haynie noticed disparities between the population of the university and that of its surrounding community, and knew things needed to change. He went on to spend the next 30-plus years in staff and faculty positions at CWRU working to reduce those disparities.
Haynie collaborated with Cleveland鈥檚 John Jay High School to found the Robbins Bridge program, which is dedicated to providing a path from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to CWRU School of Medicine. He also facilitated the Four Corners Project鈥攁 community initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for Cleveland鈥檚 children.
He has coordinated free medical screenings for children participating in the National Youth Sports Program at CWRU, and has been a part of the initiative for more than two decades.
