Event Details/Summary

Duo Noire is a "virtuosic pair鈥 (I Care if You Listen) of the pioneering African-American classical guitarists Thomas Flippin and Christopher Mallett. Focusing on contemporary music, their concerts offer 鈥減rofoundly enjoyable鈥 genre-bending repertoire with 鈥渟pectacular precision鈥 (St. Louis Post- Dispatch). Recent highlights for the Duo include giving the world premiere of GRAMMY-nominee Nathalie Joachim鈥檚 new work for Duo Noire; filming a premiere recording at Severance Hall with members of The Cleveland Orchestra; and receiving a standing ovation at the Guitar Foundation of America Convention.

Thomas Flippin is a notable composer who CCGS has commissioned to compose a number of works, and Christopher Mallett is a leading proponent of Justin Holland, an African-American classical guitarist who lived in Cleveland in the nineteenth century. Don鈥檛 miss this dynamic duo in their return performance!
