The focus of the Chan laboratory is to understand the genomic basis of tumor development and treatment response. We use both large-scale genomic analyses and functional dissection to determine what drives oncogenesis. From this information, we seek to develop improved diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for human cancers.

My research is in proteomics and systems biology in cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. I also study proten-protein and protein-small molecule interactions and sensing  via integrative biophysics, as well as structural mass spectrometry and protein crystallography.

Mark Chance's Biography

Arthropod-borne viruses re-emerge globally to cause disease in humans, resulting in new, explosive epidemics. The Chen lab studies arboviral pathogenesis, with a focus on how viruses cause debilitating bone pathologies in humans by dysregulating bone biology and causing abnormal calcifications and inflammatory arthritis.

My areas of investigation include neural networks, electrophysiology, modeling, Aplysia, biomechanics, and feeding behavior.

I study energy homeostasis and metabolic disease, and discover novel hormones that allow inter-organ communication.

My lab focuses on the role of microbial and host glycans on immune regulation and inflammatory disease.
